Project Partners, Personnel and Advisors 20th Century Interactive: Making Connections to America's Past is a project of ThinkTV-Dayton and WCET-Cincinnati. 20th Century Interactive: Making Connections to America's Past is made possible through generous funding provided by the Ohio Educational Telecommunications Network Commission in support of the Ohio SchoolNet initiative. ThinkTV Network brings to 20th Century Interactive considerable experience in developing and implementing interactive, multimedia projects. Recent projects developed and produced by the Educational Services staff and WPTD/WPTO's professional staff include The Write Site, Inquire Ohio, Water Connections, Ohio Math Works, and The Rest of Your Brain. ThinkTV 16/14 offers 62 hours of children's Ready to Learn programs every week and provides community outreach workshops which help parents, educators and child care providers enhance what children watch through activities and book reading. Distance learning is a key project for ThinkTV The ThinkTV Network is a partner with Sinclair Community College and PBS to offer Going The Distance, an educational initiative designed to serve the growing population of adults who want to earn a college degree through distance learning. And, through a partnership with Sinclair and Wright State University, the ThinkTV Network delivers instructional and informational services to individuals at schools, businesses and community centers. The project staff includes John English, Sue Garretson, and Gloria Skurski. WCET Education & Technology has worked for years with schools, teachers and students to expand their educational experiences and extend their horizons using technology. WCET is a regional and statewide leader in the use of distance learning technologies. As a designated training site for Ohio SchoolNet's Interactive Video Distance Learning program, WCET provides distance learning opportunities for teachers. In partnership with Time Warner Cable, WCET reaches more than 250 schools in our region and provides professional development and classroom resources to teachers on the ITV cable system. Teacher training is delivered via satellite to schools across Ohio and the country and university courses are offered through broadcast television. The project staff includes Patsy Carruthers, Joanne Grueter, and Krystal Cleaver. OET, The Ohio Educational Telecommunications Network Commission, is a state-wide public telecommunications network including four distinct groups of affiliates across the state serving every citizen in Ohio. The OET Operations Center is the hub of the network, supplying programming, high-capacity fiber interconnection, administrative support and funding grants for operations, capital improvement projects and programming. OET was formed to foster the growth and development of public telecommunications in Ohio and to provide all Ohio citizens with access to the services provided by public stations. To this end, the OET network links Ohio's 12 educational television stations, 32 educational radio stations and nine radio reading services in a statewide system and provides grants to those stations to subsidize operations and programming. Allan M. Winkler, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of History, Miami University, is content adviser for the project. Dr. Winkler is a member of the Ohio Humanities Council and the author of eight books on 20th Century American history. He most recently co-authored a high school textbook, America: Pathways to the Present. Carolyn Haynes, Ph.D. is Instructional Designer for the project.
