Project Updates 20th Century Interactive is a multimedia, high school curriculum in which students experience a sense of discovery as they become historians who actively search for the history around them. The project's focus is four themes that are key in the history of southwestern Ohio and serve as springboards to contemporary issues. Students learn how to use primary and secondary sources, historical and contemporary photographs, maps, ads, and other documents. The project also encourages students to move beyond facts to contemplate and grapple with theory - theories of gender, race, class and politics - as well as the meaning and practice of history. Teachers can incorporate 20th Century Interactive into the classroom, confident that the curriculum focuses on key high school proficiencies related to social studies and twentieth-century U.S. history. In addition, the assignments and activities can be easily modified for submission in the National History Day contest. 20th Century Interactive is available for teachers in southwestern Ohio right now! For more information, contact Gloria Skurksi at ThinkTV Network - Greater Dayton Public Television by e-mail or by phone at (937) 220-1600. 20th Century Interactive is a project of ThinkTV - Greater Dayton Public Television and WCET, Cincinnati.
